ACID WASH
At GC Boat Antifouling, we will acid wash your boats hull to remove any yellow staining prior to antifouling.
This is particularly important if antifouling is completed prior to hull polishing.
Removing yellow staining before antifouling ensures there are no white acid streaks all over your new antifouling.
Sometimes it's the little details that matter!
SANDING
We machine sand your boats hull to an 80 grit profile while safely extracting all dust for disposal.
Machine sanding allows for thorough inspection of your boats hull and creates a far superior 'key' for new antifoul coatings Vs traditional wet sanding by hand.
Once sanded, we pressure wash to remove any residual dust from the surface.
Antifouling is 95% preparation. GC Boat Antifouling makes sure it's done right!
MARINE GROWTH
Great care is taken by the GC Boat Antifouling team to ensure marine growth is removed from all nooks and crannies of your boats running gear and through hull fittings.
Special attention is given to cooling water galleries on stern drives and IPS drives. Often overlooked, years of growth can restrict the flow of cooling water causing overheating issues and costly repairs.
PRIMING
Any bare underwater metals or gelcoat areas are prepared and primed. Priming these areas ensure you have a barrier against corrosion and osmosis.

ANTIFOUL
All antifoul applied by GC Boat Antifouling is sprayed via an airless sprayer.
The water line is masked off, plastic overspray sheeting applied to the hull and overspray tenting erected around the boat to ensure overspray is contained and does not affect any other boats on the hardstand.
PROPSPEED
GC Boat Antifouling applies Propspeed to your boats running gear, providing the ultimate fuel efficiency for your boat.
The application of Propspeed is time critical to ensure a chemical bond between coats.

ANODES
Sacrificial anodes play a critical role in protecting your boats underwater metals from corrosion.
Anodes are less noble (or weaker) than the metal components they protect, thereby 'sacrificing' themselves and corroding before your boats expensive running gear.
For anodes to be effective, they need to have a good, clean connection. GC Boat Antifouling ensures this isn't overlooked.

OSMOSIS REPAIR
Osmosis is like the pimple of the sea! Some boats get them, others don't.
GC Boat Antifouling provides solutions for osmosis repairs of any degree using the most trusted products and processes.
ANTIFOUL REMOVAL
Old antifouling can build up over the years, adding hundreds of kilos to your boat.
It is recommended that antifouling be sand blasted if there is extensive osmosis (bubbles), flaking of existing antifoul coatings or ideally every 10 years.
Starting fresh allows for thorough inspection and repairs to the hull, sheds excess weight and allows for application of primers, tie-coats and antifouling paints that utilise the most modern chemistry.
